Overlooking Views of Cebu City

If you  like overlooking views like the the ones you see in Antipolo, Rizal, I am sure you would like the overlooking views of Cebu more. The view is much more beautiful particularly because there is less pollution in Cebu than there is in Manila.

I have been to Antipolo, Rizal and have a few times enjoyed the food there while taking in the sights overlooking Metro Manila. The view would have been nice if not only for the fact that, looking at the city, it seems like it is on fire due to heavy pollution.

Here in Cebu, I can tell you three ways you can enjoy the view overlooking Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu Lapu City. There is only one way, but three places you can go to, to see the view. Coming from JY Square in Lahug, you can either ride a motorbike (locally known as habal-habal), rent a taxi or hire a van to go to those places.

TOPS
If you just want to see the view from the highest point, you can go to TOPS. The entrance fee is 100 pesos and you can bring your own food and have a picnic there. You can go play hide and seek and take fun pictures but that is about all you can do.

Mountain View
If just looking at the view is too boring for you, you can go to Mountain View. The view is not as nice as Tops but Mountain View has its mini zoo, a videoke machine, a hanging bridge, a small playground and a small snack bar. The entrance fee is around 70 to 100 pesos. For Tops and Mountain View, you could rent a taxi for 800 to 1000 pesos and you can ask them to wait for you for about an hour.

Mr. A Restaurant
If you like dining while looking at an overlooking view, Mr. A Restaurant is the place for you. The food is really good and not too expensive and the view is also really nice. For this restaurant, you can take a metered taxi from JY Square but they will ask you for an additional 50 pesos because it is  sometimes difficult to get a passenger from there.

If you haven’t seen the overlooking view of Cebu, try going to one of these places. Night time is the best time to go as it will be cool and the view looks much better because of the city lights.

My Thoughts About Cebu

I know, this should be a travel blog. But right now, I am not going to tell you about my adventures in my travels. I am going to tell you about how I feel about Cebu.

Well, to tell you the truth, I am not a true blood Cebuana. I am originally from Manila, born there and raised there too. I got here because of my job. I was sent here supposedly for a few months to start off a business, but I fell in love with Cebu so I stayed longer and even though I left my job, the job that brought me here, I stayed in Cebu.

I’ve been here for more than four years now. I learned the language and can now converse fully in cebuano language most of the time. I haven’t fully explored Cebu yet, but based on the places that I already went to and the places that i have heard about around Cebu, it is a very beautiful place.

Of course, the view is not the only thing good in Cebu, the people here are also really nice. They may sound like they are angry when they speak, specially those around Cebu City and the surrounding areas(I believe as you go further south, the intonation of the cebuanos get softer),  but generally, they are gentle people. Nice, kind and caring.

If you want to understand what I am talking about, why don’t you visit and explore Cebu? I guarantee it will be worth your while. Cebu is a fairly small place. Approximately, you can get from one end of the island to the other end in about 6 to 8 hours.

Wondering where you can go and what you can do around Cebu? Wait around for my next posts and I will tell you about the fun places you can go to, here in cebu, including where you can eat and what you should try.  Until the next post.
