CNT Lechon Locations around Cebu

Lechón

Hello! As I have mentioned in one of the previous posts, one of the dish you really need to try when you go to the Philippines is Lechon, a whole pig, seasoned and charcoal roasted.

Here in Cebu is where you could find the best Lechon in the Philippines because here in Cebu, the Lechon is tastier because of the special seasonings that they use to marinate the whole pig before roasting. The best tasting Lechon here in Cebu is CNT Lechon. It is the most famous name in Lechon and whenever my brother asks me to bring home a Lechon, he asks for CNT. So now, I would like to give you some information about where you could find CNT lechon around Cebu. As of now, there are 4 locations I can tell you where you can find CNT.

1. Ayala Mall – CNT Lechon is located at the 4th Floor food court of this mall,  very close to the movie theater. It is located in between Quickly and Smokin rice. Since it is located in a foodcourt, you can order your Lechon and have it Dine in or take out.

2. SM City Mall –  CNT Lechon is located just in front of the grocery supermarket of SM. Here you can have your Lechon either Dine in or Take out.

3. Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City – Another branch of CNT Lechon is located at Archbishop Reyes Ave., near Grand Convention Center, beside Redtag. Here you can only order your Lechon for Take out. If it is meant as Pasalubong(present), you might even be able to ask them to pack it for you in a box, with additional charge, of course.

4. V. Rama st., Guadalupe. – This is probably the main branch of CNT as this is the biggest branch that I have seen so far, well aside from the one I saw in front of SM before but now it is not there anymore. If you are coming from Capitol, it is on the left side of the road going to Guadalupe Church. Here you can order your lechon either dine in or take out with other dishes.

Hope this helps. I will update this blog later if I find more CNT branches around Cebu.

Once an old defective building in Cebu reclamation area, it was renovated to be one of the five-star hotels in Metro Cebu. This week’s featured photo is the Radisson Blu hotel in Cebu City. In my future blog post, I will tell my experience eating in their buffet restaurant.

Restaurants in Cebu: Joven’s, Manila Foodshoppe, Kumbira, and Mr. A’s

As promised, here is a list of more restaurants that you should visit in Cebu.

Joven’s Grill

Joven’s Grill is a buffet restaurant that offers a wide variety of food to eat. They have branches in Parkmall (near Cebu Doctor’s University), Jones Ave. ( near Cebu Doctor’s Hospital) and A.S. Fortuna (near Foodland). For me, the best branch to go to is the Parkmall branch. The buffet costs 200 to 300 pesos and the food choices are plenty, such as grilled meat and fish, seafoods, vegetables,  soups and sauces and a variety of desserts ranging from fresh fruits to cakes.

Kumbira

Kumbira is located very near JY Square in Lahug, Cebu City. It is across Chinabank in JY Square. Kumbira’s most famous dish is their Pineapple Rice. It is a fried rice similar to “Yang Chao” served inside a hollowed out pineapple. They even serve you the pineapple that was taken out to make way for the rice. It is a famous dish among Koreans. Another must try in Kumbira is their “Rellenong Bangus” (fish) and their grilled dishes.

Manila Foodshoppe

Another restaurant me and my friends frequently visit is the Manila Foodshoppe, a Chinese-Filipino restaurant located at Jones Avenue, just across Cebu Doctor’s Hospital. They have another branch at Parkmall, beside Joven’s Grill.  The food are not too expensive and are very suitable to Filipino and foreign palettes.

My recommended dishes are : Buttered or fried chicken, Honey pork spareribs, Birthday Pancit, Garlic Fried Rice, fish fillet in lemon sauce and their Bird’s nest soup.

Tip: Citibank Branches and Locations in Cebu City

Citibank

Image via Wikipedia

For most foreigners such as Americans and Koreans, the main bank they go to when they need to withdraw money is Citibank, probably because it is an international bank. As a help to foreigners who wants to visit Cebu or are already here in Cebu, here are the three locations of Citibank branches in Cebu City.

Ayala Life FGU Bldg., Business Park

The most convenient location of CitiBank is in Ayala Business Park. It is very close to Ayala Center Cebu, just a stone throw away from Ayala Center Cebu Terraces. If you get out of Ayala Center Cebu thru its Activezone Exit beside Breadtalk, all you have to do is cross to the other side and walk 2-3 minutes  and you will find CitiBank. The ATM Machine is open 24 hours a day. It is the most convenient due to the reason that it is very close to Ayala Center Cebu where you can find a higher exchange rate for your dollar if you need to exchange.

Jones Avenue, Near Cebu Provincial Capitol

Another convenient location of Citibank Cebu is at Jones Avenue, Cebu City, near Cebu Provincial Capitol and Cebu Doctors Hospital. A 5 to 7 minutes walk from the Capitol, it is found at the right side of Jones, or Osmena Ave. It is a convenient location as it is very accessible to vehicles.

Cebu City Coffee and Internet Enthusiasts, Macbay is here..

I usually go around Ayala Center here in Cebu and I often find a lot of people hanging out at coffee shops, like Starbucks or Seattle’s Best, or Bo’s Coffee, etc. Most if not all of these establishments serves delicious coffee while providing WIFI internet connectivity to their customers. Truth is, people sometimes go there to relax, have a cup of coffee, and use their laptops or iPads, or their WIFI ready gadgets to browse the internet, chat on facebook, update their profiles, etc. Actually, the whole Ayala mall is a WIFI zone, but still, some people prefer to go to coffee shops to do those things. Why? Because people sometimes find it more relaxing to sit and sip on your favorite cup of coffee or cold drinks or Frap while browsing the internet.

However, coffee and drinks on those kinds of shops are expensive. Also, not all people have their own laptops or WIFI ready gadgets that they could use to browse the internet. For those kinds of people, we have found one coffee shop that offers more than just cheap (yet delicious) coffee, drinks and pastries, MACBAY.

Macbay Cafe - Cebu City

Macbay Cafe

Located just a few minutes walk from Ayala mall, Macbay can be found in front of the newly opened Elizabeth Hotel, beside Golden Prince hotel in One Acacia Place. This establishment is just two years old and yet their customer base is getting wider. Why? Because this coffee shop is simply beyond ordinary, it is an Internet coffee shop. Now, why did I say it like that?

Free Desktop and Laptop Internet

For one thing, aside from being a Free WIFI zone, Macbay has desktop computers that customers can use for their internet browsing pleasure while they sip on coffee or any other beverages and /or eating their pastries. And it is for free.. Yes.. it is FREE!

Aside from desktop computers, Macbay also has a couple of  laptops that customers can borrow if they want to do their browsing in the comfort of the soft cushioned sofas. And yes.. it is also for free. And of course, you can use your own gadgets if you have them and connect to the internet through Macbay’s WIFI. If you need to charge your own gadgets, Macbay only charges  10 pesos per hour for usage of electricity.

Food at Macbay

However, Laptops or desktops computers are not the only reasons why Macbay has lots of customers. The reason is also because of the beverages and the food that they serve. They serve very delicious shakes, frappuccinos, juices and of course, coffee. Their Bar cakes taste great. I suggest you try their pineapple upside down cake. It’s delish.

Macbay’s food and beverages are very affordable. Plus they offer membership, or loyalty cards which you can get for only 10 pesos and if you have that card you can get up to 20 pesos discount on all their food and beverages. That loyalty card also serves as a reward card wherein on your 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th visit, you can get freebies. They also have this point system wherein you can get the chance to win a trip to Singapore.

So why not try Macbay? I am sure you will like it there.

My Thoughts About Cebu

Skyline of Cebu City

Cebu City. Image via Wikipedia

I know, this should be a travel blog. But right now, I am not going to tell you about my adventures in my travels. I am going to tell you about how I feel about Cebu.

Well, to tell you the truth, I am not a true blood Cebuana. I am originally from Manila, born there and raised there too. I got here because of my job. I was sent here supposedly for a few months to start off a business, but I fell in love with Cebu so I stayed longer and even though I left my job, the job that brought me here, I stayed in Cebu.

I’ve been here for more than four years now. I learned the language and can now converse fully in cebuano language most of the time. I haven’t fully explored Cebu yet, but based on the places that I already went to and the places that i have heard about around Cebu, it is a very beautiful place.

Of course, the view is not the only thing good in Cebu, the people here are also really nice. They may sound like they are angry when they speak, specially those around Cebu City and the surrounding areas(I believe as you go further south, the intonation of the cebuanos get softer),  but generally, they are gentle people. Nice, kind and caring.

If you want to understand what I am talking about, why don’t you visit and explore Cebu? I guarantee it will be worth your while. Cebu is a fairly small place. Approximately, you can get from one end of the island to the other end in about 6 to 8 hours.

Wondering where you can go and what you can do around Cebu? Wait around for my next posts and I will tell you about the fun places you can go to, here in cebu, including where you can eat and what you should try.  Until the next post.
